A little welcome pack!
Visitors to Hilltop Barn over the past four weeks have been treated to great views of Kestrels feeding four young in a box we put up there some years ago. Lincolnshire raptor ringing expert Alan Ball, with the help of Marianne Overton gave each of the young their own ring so perhaps we can track their progress if they are found in the future, before putting them safely back in their box for a week or so before they finally leave and fend for themselves. Whilst four or more young is quite normal in some years, brood sizes are generally lower this year with two being more common so we are delighted that the habitat we have created has provided enough food for this good brood at Hilltop Farm.
